Also known as UW–Madison, Madison, or Wisconsin, this educational institution was founded in 1848 and it is a public research university located along the southern shore of Lake Mendota, with its campus in Madison. The history of the university started in February 1849 when a group of 17 students attended the first class and since then, it has grown into an international learning environment, with over 40.000 enrolled students every year.

Currently known as the Music Hall and initially considered an Assembly Hall, this Victorian Gothic construction, built in 1878 is now considered a very important music venue and it houses the university opera.
The Wisconsin Union, also known as "the heart and soul" of the University, is made up of two student unions: the Memorial Union and Union South of which UW – Madison is home to. It was founded in 1907 with the purpose of sharing the learning experiences outside the classroom and it provides plenty of learning facilities and venues.
UW Badgers are University of Wisconsin – Madison’s athletic teams competing in NCAA Division I. Their colors are cardinal and white and their mascot is Bucky Badger, officially known as Buckingham U. Badger. The UW-Madison teams benefit of some great on-campus facilities such as the Kohl Center, UW Field House and Cam Randall Stadium.
